Our Founder's Journey: Bridging the Digital Divide
Born a year before the internet in 1967, our founder Mathieu Janin embarked on a journey that would intertwine with the evolution of digital communication. After a traditional Vaud upbringing, he ventured to Eastern Switzerland to immerse himself in German culture, business economics, and marketing.
His early endeavors saw him founding an advertising agency and a specialist publishing house at just 25. As the digital age dawned, he was at the forefront, organizing Geneva's first Multimedia Fair and editing bilingual IT publications. His passion for bridging the linguistic divide led to the creation of a consultancy merging French and German speakers.
In the late '90s, he co-founded Europe's 1st Internet party and chaired a multimedia service company. Sensing the digital shift, he joined telecom operator sunrise in 2001, championing its brand across Swiss media and playing a pivotal role in its rise in French-speaking Switzerland.
His commitment to communication excellence is evident. From representing French-speaking Switzerland on various PR boards to leading communications for notable institutions, he's been a beacon in the PR landscape. However, recognizing the PR sector's challenges in the digital age, he embarked on a mission to rejuvenate its image.
In 2018, he delved deep into digital marketing, pioneering the concept of inbound PR. His ventures, pleeaase.com and the Inbound PR Academy, are testament to his commitment to equipping PR professionals for the digital era.
2020 marked the inception of smartketing.ch and smartketing.eu, agencies dedicated to aiding professionals and SMEs in amplifying their online presence. Operating at the linguistic crossroads of Fribourg, these agencies embody our founder's vision of seamless communication in German, French, and English.
The journey culminated in 2023 with the launch of smartketing.ai, Europe's premier AI-powered agency, and the publication of "Smartketing Mastery - How to Boost Business Growth with Artificial Intelligence."
